Q:

How often should I have my unit serviced?

A:

Just like changing the oil in your car, your heating and cooling system needs maintenance to keep it running efficiently.  We recommend servicing your system 2 times a year.  Once during heating season and once during cooling season.  This reduces your chance of a breakdown when you least expect it.  Please see how easy it is to join our VIP maintenance list!

Q:

What maintenance can I do myself?

A:

Change your air filters on a regular basis!  Changing your filters is the easiest and most effective thing you can do to keep your system running efficiently.  We carry a full stock of all the common filter sizes in our office.  Come by and see us!

Q:

Can shrubs or flowers be planted around an outdoor unit?

A:

We would NOT recommend it. Your unit needs air to work efficiently, and shrubs or decorative fencing can block air flow causing pre-mature and sometimes costly break downs.

Q:

Should outdoor units be covered in winter

A:

It is not recommended to cover outdoor units. Air conditioners can be accidentally turned on, which could create potential damage to the system! An outdoor unit is built to endure the environment and should not be covered.

Q:

What should I do if my HVAC systems sounds different than normal?

A:

You are are the best judge of what sounds correct in your home.  If something catches your attention as different or “off,”  do not hesitate to call and make an appointment.  Taking a video with your phone is always helpful!

Q:

My unit has iced up. What should I do?

A:

It is always a good idea to call if something is not working as you are used to.  In certain conditions a small amount of frost is normal.  In other conditions, it is a symptom of a problem that needs to be addressed by an HVAC professional.  If you take a picture so we can see what concerns you, we may be able help you over the phone.
